The Basic Dog Diet - for healthy pets over 6 months old
Fresh boneless skinless chicken breast --1 pound
Cooked white rice -- 2 and 2/3 cup
Safflower oil -- 1 Tablespoon
Morton's lite salt -- 1/4 tsp
Iodinated salt -- 1/4 tsp
Calcium carbonate without vitamin D (regular Tums - check size) -- 3 grams
Centrum adult multivitamin-mineral supplement (no special senior, ocular,
women's or other versions) -- 1 tablet
Saute chopped chicken breast in oil until thoroughly cooked. Add rice and salt.
Grind Tums (calcium carbonate), multi vitamin/mineral tab, and taurine
supplement together. Add to cooled mixture. Store in refrigerator. Larger
batches may be prepared in advance and stored in the freezer (although add
minerals & supplements to mix after thawing and re-heating).
Fish and
Sweet Potato Recipe (based on a 75 lb dog)
Baked Sweet potato -- 4 cups
Cooked Fish, trout, rainbow -- 1 1/2 cups
Salad or cooking Oil, vegetable, corn -- 5 teaspoons
One A DayR Maximum Multivitamin/multimineral Supplement -- 2 tablets
PostureR caplet (600 mg elemental calcium) -- 2 1/2 caplets
Morton Lite Salt Mixture -- 1 tsp

Protein, Carbohydrate and Vegetables.
These recipes represent the amount to be fed per day and can be fed in
multiple meals.
More than one day's worth of the food can be prepared ahead of time and
refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 weeks.
Prior to serving each meal and after warming, add the appropriate
amount of supplement to the food.
Mix thoroughly. Heating supplements that contain vitamins can destroy

Diet for Dogs
Lean ground beef, fat drained 454 grams (1 pound)
Rice, cooked 227 grams (1 1/3 cups)
Liver, beef 138 grams (1/3 pound)
Vegetable oil 63 grams (4 1/2 Tbsp)
Fish oil 9 grams (9 1000-mg fish oil caps)
Calcium carbonate 3.3 grams (5 Tums with calcium)
Salt substitute (potassium chloride) 1.9 grams (1/3 tsp)
Adult multivitamin 1 tablet
Cook the rice with salt substitute added to the water. Cook the ground
Beef and drain the fat. Cook the liver and dice or finely chop into small pieces.
Pulverize the calcium carbonate and vitamin/mineral tablets. Mix the
vegetable oil, fish oil (break open capsules) and supplements with the
rice and then add the cooked ground beef and liver. Mix well, cover and
refrigerate.
Feed approximately one-quarter of this mixture each day to a 10 pound
dog or cat. Palatability will be increased if the daily portion is heated to
approximately body temperature (Caution: when using microwave, avoid "hot spots,"
which can burn the mouth).

Boiled white fish / Canned tuna -- 1 cup
Boiled potatoes or Cooked rice -- 4 cups
Calcium carbonate or Tums -- 1 teaspoon (tablet)
Corn Oil -- 1 tablespoon
Potassium chloride (light salt) -- 1 teaspoon
Multivitamin -- 1 tablet
Mix all ingredients together and divide into equal portions, feeding 2
½ cups in the morning and 2 1/2 cups in the evening.
